StereoType is a pioneer in gender-inclusive clothing, making a statement by dressing beyond gender norms. The brand’s founder, Elizabeth Brunner, was inspired to create StereoType after seeing her children dress themselves up without following gendered clothing “rules.” This prompted Elizabeth to create a brand that celebrates the joy of dressing and expression. When Elizabeth watched her girl and boy twins mix and match items from each other’s wardrobes to create their own “mixed styles”, she herself began to forget all the rules of gender fashion that she had collected throughout her life. She created StereoType to share the joy her children experience when creating wardrobes and to advocate for self-expression for all, especially the little ones.
Like many problem-solving entrepreneurs, when she started browsing the children’s sections of major retail stores, she realized that there were only “girls” and “boys” sections, and there was nothing “gender-inclusive”. Give children the freedom to express themselves and celebrate individuality outside the confines of these two sections.
StereoType isn’t just about designing and selling clothing, it’s about the idea of transcending barriers that don’t exist and becoming your authentic self. This is what Elizabeth’s children taught her and will continue to teach her fashion and dress that transcends gender. In August 2023, StereoType launched its second capsule collection with stylish, gender-inclusive wardrobe essentials, including a bright pink terry blazer, a washed camouflage front button zip shirt, a Chambray button-down zip shirt, a camouflage tieless zipper tie, and a double-sided bright pink and black Boombox treasure bag. StereoType’s low-volume collection contains limited-quality items that are sustainably made in San Francisco.
StereoType’s mission is to break down gender boundaries in clothing and celebrate true self-expression for children and adults alike!
